For those who saw my announcement that I've become a member of StacieCakes' Creative Team, i'm proud to present my first-ever CT tutorial!
NOTE: you MAY link to this tut. you MAY print it out for later use offline. you MAY NOT claim it as yours or take anything else from it. this tutorial is ©Ruby/Stormlight, written December 18, 2012.
Supplies needed:
-- PSP
-- EyeCandy plug-in Bevel Boss
-- main tube of choice (I used the tube Julie-Anne by Barbara Jensen. you MUST purchase a license to use any of her works. you can get info on license purchasing here)
-- scrap kit "Timeless" by my great friend StacieCakes, whose creative team i am now part of! you can purchase this gorgeous kit here
-- my "Basic Drop Shadow" setting of 2, 2, 50, 4 and color black.
-- mask of choice. i used a great one by WeeScotsLass. check out her tons of great masks here at her blog.
-- font of choice.
Let's begin!
1. Open new file 600x600. Flood fill with white.
2. Oopen Star1 frame element, paste into your new file. Duplicate Star1, hide copy for now. Resize the original 80%, position in center.
3. Open paper 11. Copy and paste into your file and drop to bottom.
4. Apply your mask, merge group. Create a new raster layer. In the main frame body, floodfill with a pattern of choice from your palette (I used one called liquid satin). Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize to 205/70. In the layers palette, set blend mode to Luminance (L).
5. Unhide the copy of the star frame, resize to 40%, rotate it to the right slightly so that the little holes are lined up. Duplicate and mirror the copy onto the left. It should now look something like this:
6. Next, you will need to erase the extra parts of the side star frames that are sticking into the center one. Using your freehand selection tool, draw around the parts that are sticking out and, once selected, delete them. Keep the look of the smaller frames being attached to the large one. Now merge your frame layers into one layer and apply a drop shadow. It should look close to this when you're done:
7. Time for your tube! Copy/paste your tube into the file and drop it below the frame layer.
8. Duplicate your tube and hide the copy for now. Return to the frame layer and click inside it with your magic wand, then go to selections > modify > expand and expand by 9. Selections > invert, then hit your delete key. Deselect.
9. With your magic wand, go around and select inside the frame's little circle rivets to delete any excess tube material from them.
10. Unhide your tube copy, resize it by 50%. Duplicate it and drag one of each copy to each of the smaller frames. Position them where you like and then repeat steps 8 and 9 on each copy.
11. Merge the two smaller tube copies into one layer. Go to your layers palette, change the blend mode to Luminance (L) and the opacity to 70%.
12. Let's add some elements. Open the following elements: clock1, leaves1, a bow/ribbon of choice (I chose bow 4), sparkle1, a flower of choice (I chose flower1) and/or a scatter of choice.
13. Copy/paste the clock, move to left side of frame. Resize by 40%, position it to hang from side of frame. Copy/paste the bow, resize to approximately 20% and place over top of clock chain's ends. Merge these layers together. Apply the basic drop shadow.
14. Copy/paste the sparkle1, move beneath clock layer but on top of frames, position along bottom.
15. Copy/paste the leaves 1, resize to 53%, and position along the right. Apply the basic drop shadow, duplicate and rotate copy 5% to the left. Move so that the branches are connected and merge down.
16. Copy/paste the flower1, resize to 30%, apply basic drop shadow, and place atop leaves.
17. Copy/paste the your scatter of choice, position where you like it and then drop it to be the layer above the mask layer.
18. Add two new raster layers. Place your name/text on one and enhance it as you like. I used EyeCandy Bevel Boss with the Inner Carve setting and drop shadow settings white 2, -2, 50, 4.
19. Place your copyright info and watermark on the second new raster layer. Use your crop to selection tool to crop out any excess white space.
